New clothing website promotes vintage wear

Belleville - Gayle Crosmaz-Brown, with a style and flare all her own, delightedly launched the website for her vintage and retro clothing store, Crosmaz & Brown Emporium, last week. Located in the riverside community of Campbellford, the Emporium is an eclectic collection of pieces created by a number of artists and artisans, not the least of which is the Crosmaz-Brown family. The website, www.crosmazandbrown.com, was developed by Belleville's Art Plus Ltd., so it was only fitting that Crosmaz-Brown celebrated her new e-launch May 23 in the artistic ambiance of Gallery Art Plus, located on North Front Street.
"This website is full of everything she is - she's an artist and she loves vintage clothing." said Melissa Cowie-Longo, the creator of the website. The Brown of Crosmaz & Brown is Jerry Brown, Gayle's husband, an interior and exterior renovator. Together, they have endowed their three daughters - Nicole field and Natalie and Lezly-Ann Crosmaz-Brown - with an array of talents and all three daughters are involved in the business. Nicole, the eldest daughter, is a designer in metal. A welder by trade, she designs furniture, accessories, jewelry and, remarkably, chain mail clothing. Natalie, a talented vocalist with a love of the blues she soulfully demonstrated during the launch party, is also a creator of jewelry, described as "bold and bodacious," which she creates based on the wishes of her clientele. Lezly-Ann, also vocally gifted, is equally adept artistically. Both she and her mother have created a number of signs and murals that can be found in various locations throughout Northumberland and Hastings counties.
To help celebrate the e-launch of the business, a number of Crosmaz-Brown's clientele attended the party dressed in one-of-a-kind pieces available at the Emporium - vintage clothing meticulously restored or artfully refashioned, and made-to-order themed pieces designed and created in the hands of Crosmaz-Brown. Barbara McGruder, a resident of Havelock, attended the launch wearing an outfit designed by Crosmaz-Brown. An enthusiastic supporter of the store's creations, McGruder delightedly shared her thoughts about the emporium. "The store just thrills me every time I go in there," she said.
With a different take on recycling, Crosmaz & Brown encourages clients to turn old clothing into something new again with the logo, "Go Vintage Chic! Go Green" We're avid recyclers and that's what it's all about - going green," Crosmaz-Brown said.
